District of Sechelt Council approved a Development Permit for the first stage of development at 5981 Shoal Way in Sechelt's West Porpoise Bay neighbourhood. The project includes two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses targeted towards local essential workers. The owner will offer priority access to workers from organizations such as Vancouver Coastal Health, School District 46, RCMP, Sechelt Fire Department, BC Ambulance, and Sunshine Coast Community Services Society.

The Development Permit follows OCP and Zoning Amendment bylaws which were adopted by Council in February, permitting up to 117 units to be developed on the five-acre site. The first stage of development includes the first 28 units on approximately 1.14 acres of land following road dedications for an extension of Links Street.

A Subdivision application for the first stage of development is active and will be followed by building applications prior to construction in Spring 2025.
